Creative D&D Characters: Chaotic Neutral Elf Wizard

Maescia, the chaotic neutral elf wizard

Today’s creative D&D character is a slight departure from what is typical here on NZS Games. Today I am featuring the protagonist from our latest adventure in the Truly, Madly, Deeply series, Heaven is a Place on Faerûn.

If you’re unfamiliar with the Creative series, please take a look at all the other entries of our Creative D&D Characters series.

Today I give you Maescia Biralei, the chaotic neutral elf wizard.

Who Am I?

“I‘m no one to be trifled with. That’s who I am. When I was younger I was expelled from wizard training for my ‘reckless ways and blasé attitude regarding tradition’. You know what that means? It means those fools have no appreciation for indvidualism. Tradition? You mean peer pressure from dead people?

apparatus of the crab
Maescia is currently repairing the Apparatus of the Crab she hijacked from a careless merchant caravan.

At any rate, my expulsion shamed my family and I refused to stick around and settle for some pedestrian life in my hometown. Instead, I vowed to show them where they can stick their traditions. I would train myself in the arcane and one day they would not only admire my talent and ambition. They would fear me. I’ve been successful and I bear the scars of my success proudly. I have spent the last few years collecting curious magic items and either repairing them or improving upon them. I sell most of them on the gray market for a hefty return. Although, sometimes I keep them for myself as with my Staff of Swarming Insects (it’s great for ambushing small supply trains and travelers) and the Apparatus of the Crab which I’m currently repairing.

My larger project is tricking out a nice abandoned dungeon I found. It’s a work in process but I’ve hired an elderly widower to help me with the more mundane tasks so I can focus on bigger things. Did you know cockatrices make for interesting pets? Their familial bonds are extraordinary! My elf kin like to think they are loyal to family but they could learn a lot from these monstrosities.

Of course you can’t tell elves anything. They know it all…however, this elf is different.”

Where can you find Maescia?

Maescia is rumored to have potentially taken up residence somewhere in the Sunset Mountains.

That’s it for this installment of Creative D&D Characters. The keen observer will note that Maescia’s entry is a bit different from the previous characters. This is because she is part of the aforementioned Heaven is a Place on Faerûn we published last October and I cannot divulge all of her details here. Additionally, the previous characters were all randomly generated using a spreadsheet I created but we created Maescia intentionally and then commissioned Joseph Garcia to do the art. We’d love to know your thoughts and hear your suggestions in the comments. So tell us what you think!

Journeyman. Melancholiac. Stoic. A rebel and a runner. I think chocolate and caffeine are over-celebrated and I believe hot sauce pairs nicely with ice cream.
